popped over to the arts house museum to catch e exhibition on e dead sea scrolls.. this tour showcases 4 real fragments of the scrolls discovered in qumran. e scroll dates back 2000 over yrs ago, e earliest scriptures available to us now.. e language is written in hebrew, e original language of the scriptures:) besides this highlight item, there are also various old edition bibles on display, including the first king james bible ever printed etc.. scroll on to read more! hahaha..
took many fotos of e exhibits, but gonna show some of it only.. esp those that explain e historical value of the bible:)
one of the posters showin one of the fragments.. e real thing is below, laters..
john bunyan's pilgrim's progress.. apparently john bunyan had no official theological training, was a drunk, ex convict who read e scriptures given to him while in prison alot alot of times, and came up with this book after synthesising wad he read:) classic book for children and adults alike.

very subtle selective coloring of the thickness of the bible..
the geneva bible:)
there was this room dedicated to the famous 5 pple in the history of how e bible was translated from hebrew(e original languag e old testament bible was written in in the time of Moses) to greek to latin to english and various languages of the world todae.. it started with john calvin:

e second famous person is Erasmus, who translated the hebrew old testament into greek-latin:)
then it was martin luther king, our famous monk who translated e bible from hebrew and greek into german..

e fourth person and prob e most unknown one, is responsible for e translation of e greek/latin bible to the english language.. william tyndale had so much difficulty doing this becos the roman empire forbid e translation of the bible to the english language.. e reason was e church believed e scriptures shuld be ministered to the people by the priests, thus e ordinary people shuld not be able to read e bible as such.. he was eventaulli burnt at stake for his translation:(

burnt at stake..
"Lord, open e King of England's eyes".. are we sometimes too blinded to see what God's will is?
e fifth person is john bunyan, previously mentioned le:)
next, we come to the room that exhibits the fragments of the scrolls:
this is how e scrolls were discovered..

e scrolls were in 18000 fragments, and e restoration of the scrolls into 800 books took many many many yrs.. it employed e help of DNa testin of the animal skin that each book was written on, so exact matching of the fragments culd take place.. the amazin thing is that even after so many yrs of passing down via copyin etc.. when we compare the modern dae version of the scripture and the scrolls discovered (e 2000+ yrs ago version), they are almost identical:) shows how God's word stands e test of time and God's hand in preservin His scriptures.. imagine u writing a book and e only way of passing down to the next generation is by copying manualli.. human errors would have changed e book u wrote by alot if u are talkin abt thousand of yrs!
fragment number 1:
the leviticus fragment.. see e next foto for explanation..
number 2:
see next foto of explanation!
number 3:
not all the 800 books were scriptures.. some where books on other stories, day to day manuals, etc.. this number 3 fragment was a non biblical fragment from another book..
number 4:

e only scroll that was preserved in its entirety was that of the book of Isaiah.. as mentioned above, e rest of the books were in fragments..the followin is a replica of e book of isaiah.. in e old daes, the scrolls were made up of sheep/animal skin and written on by vegetable oil and sewn carefully next to each other..

hebrew writtings..
e last exhibit worth mentioning is how e first bible was brought into space, in e form of a tiny microform..

1248 pages in that small small thingy!
wil leave you with e last image, of a verse that i hope none of us wil cry out in the last dae.
